Gee Canlas confirmed that she and her husband Archie Alemania have separated.
On "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Tuesday, Tito Boy asked Gee to share what she can about the situation.
"That was not a decision I took lightly. It's not something na parang on a whim ginawa nalang or nag-decide na lang nang ganun. I made sure that I was at a point in my life na I was weighing what matters most in my life, kaya tayo nandito ngayon," Gee said.
Gee said the separation was a very hard decision and something that she is still processing. She added that she kept praying for God's guidance, until she surrendered to Him.
Gee also revealed it was not a mutual decision.
"I left. I was the one who left the marriage."
The actress also made it clear that the acts of lasciviousness case filed against Archie by Rita Daniela was not the main reason for their split.
"I don't think Tito Boy na it's one specific thing. It's not a black and white, one plus one kind of situation. Overtime, nag-accumulate 'yung mga bagay bagay. So a lot of pieces that eventually caused the demise of our marriage," Gee said.
"I really tried to fight to keep my family together because at that time, nasabihan ako na you have to be strong. So ang nangyari was I didn't have time to absorb it right away, ang sa 'kin is how do I save my family? How do I come through for my child?" she added.
Gee added that filing for an annulment is still not on the top of her mind and that her priority is creating a stable environment for her son, Caleb.
When asked if she feels angry about the situation, she said she feels sad.
"I'm sad because hindi mo 'to pinaplano," she said. "To me, you get into a relationship, you get married, you have kids, to me parang okay na. But I'm in the process right now of accepting what is. 'Yung galit is being human eh. But now it's more of, wala na."
Gee added that she regrets not leaving earlier.
"I should have listened to myself na parang feeling ko nauubos na. I'm a very colorful person, I'm a very goofy person, over the years parang nawala," she said.
She said she was scared of leaving the marriage. She also said she should have trusted God more, because the marriage was not being fixed.
If she is thankful for anything, it would be their son, Caleb.
Meanwhile, Gee said she is learning to be more present.
"Parang nawala ako," she said.
"I feel like if I absorb fully na ngayon kausap kita, naguusap tayo ngayon, then I can fully be here, I can be present. 'Yun 'yung natututunan ko kasi kasi that's how I can also be there for Caleb na hindi lumilipad 'yung utak, ang daming wino-worry, ang daming iniisip. Si Caleb 'yung one thing that allows me to be present and zero in."
