MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) said it was still awaiting guidance on the next steps for the Filipino passengers and crew aboard the cruise ship linked to the reported hantavirus outbreak.

DOH Spokesman Albert Domingo told The Manila Times on Friday that they have yet to receive instructions from the World Health Organization (WHO) on the appropriate measures to be implemented concerning all the Filipinos aboard the MV Hondius—the ship where the reported outbreak was traced.

“The Philippines has yet to receive advice from the WHO on the next steps to be taken about passengers and crew on the affected cruise ship. We will act accordingly in line with established quarantine protocols once more information is available,” said Domingo.

About 38 Filipinos were reportedly aboard the MV Hondius, and Domingo said none of them was showing signs of the illness.

On Thursday, Singapore confirmed that its 2 residents who were exposed to the hantavirus aboard the ship had been tested and isolated. Their test results are still pending.
