MANILA, Philippines — Magnolia ambushed Meralco, 93-76 to capture the fifth seed heading to the playoffs at the close of the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup elimination round on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Paul Lee scored 13 of his points in the middle quarters that allowed the Hotshots to pull away and dictate the tempo the rest of the way en route to ending the elims at 7-5.
The Bolts settled for the 8-3 card, with the no. 4 seed already secured.
Meralco and Magnolia could possibly meet in the quarterfinals if Barangay Ginebra beats TNT which is playing as of posting time.
Clint Chapman led the Hotshots with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Javi Gomez de Liano added 10 points.
Marvin Jones and Javee Mocon scored 14 points apiece for the Bolts.
