Moving from Santiago into the dramatic landscapes of Torres del Paine and onward to the Lake District and Araucanía region, the journey blends expert mentorship with real field conditions, allowing guests to work with weather, light and movement rather than simply observe them. This seasonal departure reveals Patagonia at its most expressive and elemental, offering photographers a rare opportunity to develop their craft within some of the southern hemisphere’s most remarkable natural settings.
This exclusive photographic journey takes place again in 2027, specifically on April 15 to 22, as autumn softens Patagonia into a palette of deep reds and copper tones, forests shift into warm color, lakes become mirrors for the sky, and the granite contours of Torres del Paine appear almost suspended between seasons.
The itinerary: Over a period of eight days, guests travel from Santiago into the national park, working with viewpoints over Grey Glacier, the quiet drama of lenga forests, the Serrano River and the luminous waters of Lake Pehoé.
The journey then moves north to Pucón and the Araucanía region, where volcanic contours, reflective rivers, and ancient araucaria forests offer new dimensions of scale and atmosphere. What makes it truly awesome is that a scenic charter flight shall provide rare aerial access to Patagonia’s landscapes, while a practical Adobe Lightroom session at andBeyond Vira Vira Lodge will give guests the opportunity to refine and develop their imagery at the end of the week.
This photographic journey shall be hosted by French photographer and filmmaker Timothy Dhalleine, who has lived in Patagonia since 2013 and is widely recognized for capturing the grandeur of Chile’s diverse landscapes from the Atacama Desert to southern Patagonia, while telling deeply human stories through his work.
Dhallaine’s photography and filmmaking are grounded in visual storytelling and emotional interpretation of place. His recent projects include two documentaries highlighting Chile’s contrasting scenery and the enduring spirit of adventure.
His film, "The Present," follows Dimitri, a young Frenchman living with Huntington’s disease, as he cycles from Mexico to Patagonia, choosing to embrace life fully despite his condition. His latest project documents the return of legendary climber Sir Chris Bonington to Chilean Patagonia 62 years after his historic ascent of Torre Central del Paine, offering a powerful reflection on time, memory and landscape.
Under Dhallaine’s guidance, guests participating in andBeyond’s photographic journey in 2027 will learn not only the technical aspects of photography but also how to anticipate light, shape visual narratives, and develop images with intention.
