Park Bom alleges drug cover-up involving Sandara Park

MANILA, Philippines — 2NE1 member Park Bom caused a stir online on Tuesday, March 2, after posting a handwritten letter that contains drug-related claims mentioning her fellow girl group member Sandara Park.

Park Bom implicated Sandara in the now-deleted post written in Korean.

The singer, who has been in hiatus since August last year due to health issues, began by saying that she is cautious about her post because it might cause another uproar. She said that she wanted to share the truth.

Park said she was troubled about the drug known as Adderall, which she said is not a narcotic. She disclosed that she is a patient with Attention Deficit Disorder.

According to the report on Korea JoongAng Daily, Adderall is a medication used to treat ADD and related conditions. The drug is FDA-approved in the United States but is banned in South Korea.

“Sandara Park was caught in a drug case and, to cover it up, made Park Bom into a drug addict,” the translation read as reported on various news sites.

Park Bom addressed YG Entertainment, its founder Yang Hyun-suk, music producer Teddy and another 2NE1 member, Lee Chae-rin, also known as CL.

“I hope YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun-suk [the founder of YG Entertainment], Teddy [a music producer] and Lee Chae-rin [2NE1 member CL] will stop reporting to the authorities that Park Bom used more than the prescribed amount of a drug she has not taken in nearly 30 years,” Park Bom wrote.

Park Bom figured in a 2010 issue after importing Adderall into South Korea via courier without declaring it to customs or obtaining approval from Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The prosecutors suspended the indictment after it was ruled that the medication was for treatment purposes.

After her viral post, an associate asked for understanding for Park Bom, citing her “unstable” health condition. Sandara Park’s side told YTN Star that Bom’s allegations are “groundless.”
